Wade Erickson, MD

Dr. Erickson...
Dr. Erickson has lived in the valley since 2000 with his wife, Heather. They started Capstone Family Medicine LLC and Eye Clinic LLC in 2003. Since that time, they have traveled to Sri Lanka for tsunami relief and have become a huge part of the community. Each year thereafter they added a child to their family for a grand total of four active boys!
Dr. Erickson was born and raised in Minnesota where he attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth Medical School. He attended MacNeal Family Practice Residency in suburban Chicago with emphasis in Obstetrics and Sports Medicine. He has been the team physician for the Matsu Miners since arriving in the valley and has served as chief of the medical staff at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center where he continues to remain on active status.
When he and Heather are not chasing their children, they enjoy traveling abroad, skiing, big game hunting, fishing, and beer. Dr. Erickson enjoys treating the whole family and providing the widest range of services possible to his patients.

Heather Jones, MD

Dr. Heather Jones...
Heather Jones is a physician in the Air National Guard and a permanent resident. She has always enjoyed hiking, cross-country skiing, camping, biking and walking or running. She also enjoys swimming and snorkeling. She is originally from California and still enjoys the sunshine so tries to escape to a sunny location at least once per year.
She completed her family medicine residency at the University of Nebraska/Offutt Air Force Base combined program in Omaha, Nebraska. Her family moved to Alaska with the United States Air Force and they have lived here for over 10 years. After deciding to leave Active Duty to allow more time to be with her family she settled in the Chugiak area where she is enjoying living. She has two teenage children who get their music abilities from their father.

Jessica Jachimiec, MD

Dr. Jachimiec was born in Chicago and raised in Wisconsin. She graduated from the CEBU Institute of Medicine and completed her residency in family medicine at the University of Wisconsin Fox Valley. She moved to Alaska in 2006 and worked as a contract physician at Elmendorf Air Force Base prior to joining Capstone in January 2010.
While she prefers warmer climates, Dr. Jachimiec is learning to appreciate the Alaskan outdoors – fishing, hiking, camping and kayaking in Prince William Sound. She enjoys spending time with her husband and young daughters, cooking, traveling and cross country skiing. Dr Jachimiec has been a provider at Capstone since January 2010.

Ray Kelley, MD

Dr. Kelley moved to Alaska in 1997 with the US Army after completing medical school at the University of South Dakota and an internship at Fort Bliss, Texas. In 2004, he completed a residency at the University of Wisconsin where he met his wife, Jessica. After a tour in Iraq, he returned to Alaska in 2005. He left the active army in 2010 and is a member of the Alaska Army National Guard.
He and Jessica live in Wasilla with their young daughters. Dr. Kelley enjoys working on their family cabin and restoring his ’55 Chevy. Dr Kelley has been a provider at Capstone since Jan 2011.

Sarah Hennemann, MD

Dr. Hennemann originally hails from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin. She moved to North Pole, Alaska in 2007 with the United States Air Force, in which she served 10 years. When her military commitment was complete, she and her family decided to make Alaska their permanent home.
With six children of her own, Dr. Hennemann has a particular interest in maternal/child medicine. She is a strong proponent of family and loves that her specialty truly covers “cradle to grave”. Dr Hennemann has been a provider at Capstone since November 2010.

Matt Cook, DO

Dr. Cook is a recently graduated physician who is now living his dream of practicing in Alaska. He is from Idaho where he met his wife and started a family. Dr. Cook now has 4 children.
He attended medical school at Des Moines University and then completed 3 years of training at Idaho State University Family Medicine Residency. He has a strong interest in obstetrics and osteopathic medicine. He enjoys all types of outdoor activites including hunting and fishing.

Tracy Slager, DO, ATC

Was born and raised in North Carolina where she attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for her undergraduate degree. Prior to starting medical school, she worked as an athletic trainer and completed the prestigious Athletic Training Fellowship at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colorado. She graduated from Via College of Osteopathic Medicine, Virginia Campus in 2009 and completed her residency at Nellis AFB, NV in 2012.
Her focus in residency was Women’s Health and Obstetrics. She was lucky enough to be stationed at Joint Base Elmendorf- Richardson from 2012 – 2015 which is where she and her husband fell in love with Alaska. She continued to do obstetrics and full spectrum Family Medicine until her separation from the Air Force.
Dr. Slager has been active in the Alaska Academy of Family Physicians as an ALSO instructor and with the education committee. Dr. Slager and her husband have two small children, and enjoy hiking, playing in the snow, ice fishing, photography and all that Alaska’s wide outdoors have to offer. She loves practicing full spectrum, cradle to grave Family Medicine in such a beautiful area.

Blake Galler, DO

After finishing medical school at UNTHSC, Dr. Galler started his intern year at San Antonio Military Medical Center in 2012. He considered the experience to be incredible as well as an honor in serving fellow soldiers and airmen. After completing his residency in Dermatology, he was stationed him at Dwight D Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Augusta, Ga. This is where he spent the remainder of his service obligation eventually becoming Chief of Dermatology Clinic. Throughout his military career he was given many opportunities to gain experience from caring for soldiers wounded by IEDs, treating patients in a state-of-the-art burn unit, using medical and cosmetic laser therapy for burns and scars as well as general medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology. He treats all medical dermatology diseases to include acne, rosacea, contact dermatitis, skin discoloration, cellulitis, rashes, HSV, herpes, warts, ulcers, skin lesions, malignant neoplasms of the skin, nail issues, hair loss, skin aging, cold sores, sun damage or actinic keratoses, epidermal cysts, eczema, psoriasis, seborrheic keratosis or benign skin tumors, dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis or cradle cap, folliculitis, hives or urticaria, atopic dermatitis, tinea or tinea versicolor, fungal infections, cosmetic procedure follow-up, surgical procedure follow-up, inflammatory skin diseases, parasitic infections, such as scabies or head lice.

Jefferson Wasson, MD

Dr. Wasson originally grew up in the Seattle area, spending each summer at his family’s cabin in Eagle Village. Living in the rainy northwest for years prompted him to move to Southwest where he got his undergraduate degree in physiology at the sunny University of Arizona. He received his medical degree from Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in Middletown, New York. Dr. Wasson completed his residency at Kaiser Permanente in San Diego, California with a special interest and training in geriatrics. His love of the wilderness brought him back to Alaska to practice medicine. His hobbies include fishing, backpacking, hunting and woodworking. He has volunteered to provide medical care to underserved communities abroad in Africa, India and Jamaica and hopes to continue to find opportunities to serve going forward.

Timothy Buffey, DO

Dr. Timothy Buffey is an osteopathic family physician who has lived in Alaska since 2019, fulfilling his dream to practice medicine in Alaska. He has practiced full spectrum family medicine, served as a Family Medicine Residency Program Director, and has been the Chair of Family Medicine at an osteopathic medical school. He enjoys seeing patients of all ages and finds fulfillment in helping them understand and optimize their personal health. Teaching is his passion and he holds a special interest in diabetes management.
Dr. Buffey was born in WA but moved to several different states as a child. He received his undergraduate degree from Olivet Nazarene University in IL, attended Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed his family medicine residency in Muskegon, MI. He and his wife Kate have five children: four sons and one daughter. His household is rounded out with the addition of both dogs and cats.
In his spare time, Dr. Buffey enjoys cultivating plants, playing video games with his children, constructing things from wood, and spending time outside in nature. He also enjoys baking and continues his search for the elusive perfect cinnamon roll recipe.

Bill Kim, MD

Dr. Kim is an active fisherman and hunter who fell in love with Alaska during his first trip to the state in 2007. He was born in Muscatine, Iowa and completed medical school at the University of Iowa, Carver School of Medicine. After completing his Internal Medicine residency at LAC-Harbor UCLA Medical Center and his Gastroenterology fellowship at the UCLA Center for Health Sciences he has been in practice in Downey California for over 25 years. He is board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and is a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology
He started his half time practice in Kenai in January 2018 and joined Capstone Clinic, Kenai in January 2020. His style of practice is to sit down with his patients and take enough time to thoroughly address their problems.
Dr. Kim loves the people of the Kenai Peninsula and has bought a home on the Kenai River. He also plays golf, bicycles, skis, off-roads and has traveled by motorcycle throughout this great state. He has 2 grown children, who both attended Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island and live on the east coast but share their father’s love for the outdoors and traveling to Alaska.

Bryan Dahms, MD

Dr. Dahms was born and raised in Alaska. Inspired by his mother, Laurie, a longtime family physician in Mat-Su, he decided to pursue the same field of practice. Dr. Dahms earned his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine. With his intent on returning to practice in Alaska, Dr. Dahms attended residency at North Colorado Family Medicine for training in obstetrics, rural health, and full-spectrum family care.
In residency, Dr. Dahms was recognized by the Society of Teachers in Family Medicine for his excellence in teaching and held a position as Academic Chief Resident. He continues to incorporate medical advances through collaboration with specialists, reading journals, and attending conferences, including the use of point-of-care ultrasonography and dermoscopy.
Outside of the office, Dr. Dahms enjoys biking, hiking, and skiing with his wife and two young children. He also loves music, cooking, playing the piano, and spending time with his family’s golden retriever.

Rachelle Blanc, DO

Dr. Blanc was born in southern Arizona, where she graduated from the University of Arizona. After 24 years of trying to beat the heat, she decided to apply to medical schools on the East Coast and received her medical degree from Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in upstate New York. She completed her residency at Kaiser Permanente in San Diego, California, with a focus on women’s health and pediatrics.
Dr. Blanc was drawn to Alaska’s vast wilderness landscapes and lifestyle after visiting them numerous times. After residency, she and her husband knew Alaska would be the next place they would call home. During her free time, she enjoys a wide range of outdoor activities including kayaking, hiking with the family dog, snowshoeing, and berry picking. She maintains a succulent garden that has travelled with her from Arizona, has a passion for cooking and always enjoys a competitive game of Scrabble.

Martin Glaves, DO

Dr. Martin Glaves is an Osteopathic physician practicing Family Medicine with obstetrics and Osteopathic Manipulation. After completing his Bachelor’s degree at UAA, he attended medical school at Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences and completed his residency at Alaska Family Medicine Residency in Anchorage.
Prior to medical school, Dr. Glaves was a volunteer EMT and a commercial set-net fisherman. Dr. Glaves is in the first generation of his family to receive a college education and is the 3rd of 4 children. As a youth, Dr. Glaves was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America, where he earned its highest rank of Eagle Scout and spent plenty of time exploring the trails and lakes of the Kenai Peninsula.
As is prerequisite to living in Alaska, Dr. Glaves loves the outdoors. He enjoys hiking and backpacking with family and friends, hunting, being a terrible fly fisherman, and anything that has to do with water, except for sinking. In his free time, Dr. Glaves enjoys time with his family in the outdoors, woodworking, learning new skills, and studying ancient technologies.

Danielle Weiss, MD

Dr. Weiss was born and raised in California. She graduated from NYU School of medicine and completed her internal medicine residency at Scripps Mercy in San Diego and her endocrinology fellowship at Stanford University. Within the broad field of endocrinology, Dr. Weiss is particularly interested in disorders of the thyroid, pituitary, adrenals, lipids, and osteoporosis as well as the hormonal transition through mid-life for both men and women. Other areas of expertise include the management of obesity, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and nutritional counseling. Dr. Weiss’ philosophy on patient care is exemplified by Francis Peabody’s statement, “The secret of the care of the patient is in caring for the patient”. She truly believes that this is the best and only way to practice medicine.

Lydia grew up in Texas and attended undergraduate school at Loma LindaUniversity School of Nursing in California, graduating in 2001 as a Registered Nurse.She worked for 12 years as an RN in various hospital nursing positions.Lydia returned to school and graduated from Frontier Nursing University in 2015with her MSN, Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner degree and in 2018 with herpost-masters Family Nurse Practitioner degree, carrying board certification in bothspecialties.
Lydia has worked with several clinics in the valley since graduating in 2015,including her own clinic Restoration Wellness from 2016 to 2021. Jenny was born in California and moved to Alaska as a child. She’s enjoyed living the Alaskan lifestyle and remains involved in many community associations including Special Olympics, Lions Club, VFW, and Elks Lodge. During the summer months, Jenny is hiking throughout Alaska and competes in various Scottish Highland Games. You will often find her alongside her faithful companion, Zoey, who is in training to be a full-fledged therapy dog. Jenny received her undergrad in biological sciences from UAA before attending PA school at the University of Washington where she graduated from the MEDEX program. Because of her family medical history, Jenny is very passionate about preventative health care and will ensure her patients are keeping up on their preventative screenings.
